Hi Gene--

People like Kendra (above) might like to know about Mia Cunningham's biography of Anna Hubbard, Out of the Shadows, published by the University Press of Kentucky. I just reread it myself, after learning of Mia's death a year ago. It gives quite a good sense of the day-to-day life at Payne Hollow, along with a lot of other information about both Anna and Harlan.

Nice piece!

Billy, in this case he was grinding the wheat into flour. But from what I remember, he also would crack wheat, as I have done, to put on oatmeal or other "bought" cereal.

Hi Gene,
I told some people about your article on Harlan Hubbard and someone had a question and was wondering if you knew the answer. They wanted to know was he just 'cracking' the wheat he had for breakfast or actually grinding it? If you know the answer I'd really appreciate you sharing it with us. Thanks Gene.

Hello Gene,

Thank you for sharing the story of this wonderful life with us. It is really inspiring to me. My husband and I share that same dream. I think we can find it.
