I live in an Asian neighborhood of Oakland and like to visit Chinatown markets as well, but I'm timid about plunging into cooking with the ingredients. I just made stir-fry a couple of times recently, using recipes from Pam Anderson's "How To Cook Without a Book."

This article gives me ideas for where to start. My own kids like Middle Eastern food but may not really go for dried fruits and Chinese ingredients... but we need to get to Chinatown more often anyway. They like Vietnamese spring rolls! Banh mi is next.

We will try this noodle recipe, and I'm looking forward to the book AND the TV show. There are very few shows we bother to watch - my kid who likes cooking will LOVE this one.
