Thanks for a c ompelling and informative article on seed-saving. I have returned to gardening now in retirement years and have planted a garden almost exclusively from heritage seeds. I do like the feeling of reaching back in time when I plant beans that were planted by indiginous peoples several hundreds of years ago. And although I do not plan to harvest it, I have planted an egyptian wheat primarily for the birds -- to eat and to sow over this little Prince Edward Island in Canada. Somehow, there is a knowing of it's the right thing to do.
